1st Annual Winter Fellowship a Success!!

by Davis Faulkner on February 13, 2010

After the originally scheduled Coosa Winter Fellowship was canceled due to inclement weather, a second attempt was successfully held. Nearly 100 Arrowmen attended the 1st Annual Winter Fellowship at the Metropolitan Church of God in Birmingham. The event was a great success with classes being taught on many subjects ranging from Lodge History, Patch Design, Elangomat Participation, Shows, Chapter Fun, Unit Elections, Ceremony Teams, Camping, Conservation and Service.

Pizza and drinks were provided to all by the Lodge and each participant received a Leadership Development Conference Patch. The Trading Post also had the “1st Annual Winter Fellowship” Patches, which quickly sold out to those attending. Special thanks goes to our Staff and Advisers for making this a great event. A big thanks to Mr. Brett Melton for securing the use of the Metropolitan Church of God and to all the Arrowmen who braved the weather to travel to the event from as far away as Florence & Huntsville.

We anticipate this becoming a great Lodge tradition and hope everyone places it on their calendar for 2011. As a reminder, don’t forget our 5th Annual American Indian Seminar coming up on March 19-21 at Camp Comer. We know Mr. Julian Simmons will have a great event planned for us. The deadline for pre-registration for AIS is March 5th in order to avoid the event price increase. Those holding a 2010 Event Pass attend for free. There will be more details and agenda items to come. Hope to see you there!!  Also “be prepared” for timely updates on Lodge happenings for the coming year as we continue to celebrate 10 Years of Coosa Lodge Cheerful Service!

I didn’t realize that this was the first time Coosa Lodge ever did a Winter Fellowship. Great seeing everyone there, and hope this turns into an annual tradition.

Jim, thanks for the feedback. In the past these events have been called the LLDC or Lodge Leadership Development Conference. Due to some changes in how the LLDC is used on a Section, Region and National basis it was decided to change the name to Winter Fellowship. Those attending got a neat 1st Annual Winter Fellowship Patch. Hope to see you at AIS in March!
