The countdown to Fall Fellowship has begun.

by Chris Brightwell on September 13, 2010

As I type this, we’re a mere 18 days away from kicking off our 12th annual Coosa Lodge Fall Fellowship at Comer Scout Reservation, near Mentone, AL.  I’m planning to be there.  Are you?

As a former Lodge Chief, Fall Fellowship has always had a special significance to me.  It’s a place where I was chosen to serve my Lodge, it’s a place where I turned those responsibilities over to my successor, it’s a place where I’ve witnessed countless Brothers have the Vigil Honor bestowed upon them, and it’s the place from which some of my fondest memories in Scouting have come.

This is the marquee event for our lodge each year.  It’s not like an Ordeal, but it’s a lot like Conclave or maybe even NOAC.  There’s a ton of really great fellowship, plenty of food, friendly sports competitions between Chapters, and a very high probability that someone from Coosa Shows will shove a camera in your face.

If you’ve been an Ordeal member for 10 months or more, now is the time to seal your membership in the Order by attaining Brotherhood.  It’s pretty simple, really, and it’s not nearly as arduous as your Ordeal. It will help bring the experience of your Ordeal into a sharper focus and give your memories from that weekend more meaning.  For this reason, it’s best to attain Brotherhood as soon after your Ordeal as possible.  There will be a great opportunity at Fall Fellowship to do just that!

We’ll have a lot more information on specific plans for the weekend as we march through the next 18 days, but I sincerely hope that each of you will plan to attend this year’s Fall Fellowship.  I’d love to see 25+ members from every Chapter in the lodge (for a total attendance of more than 400!).

If you’re on Facebook, please take a moment to become a fan of Coosa Lodge (and also of  the Greater Alabama Council), then register your RSVP for the upcoming event.  We’re on Twitter, too, if you’re into that.  Just follow @coosalodge.
