Time is running out for the Boy Scout car tag in Alabama!

by Chris Brightwell on October 20, 2010

As of August 31, the state has only received 154 reservations for the proposed state-wide Boy Scout car tag.

Before these can be made, we need 1,000 paid reservations.  The deadline for this is November 30th.  If we don’t have the required number of reservations by that deadline, we will miss this opportunity and we will not have another opportunity for several years.

In the Greater Alabama Council, each unit will receive $15 per tag its members reserve. Individual units are responsible for presenting proof of purchase to the council office for this incentive.  This incentive is only available to our units if the new car tags are created.  That means 1,000 people (state-wide; not just in our council) before November 30th.

Want to help?  Here’s what you need to do.

  1. Complete a commitment form to purchase the Boy Scout license plate in Alabama.  This form can be obtained from your local state licensing office.
  2. Complete this Power of Attorney form (.pdf).
  3. Return both forms, plus the $50 payment, to one of the Greater Alabama Council service centers (either in Birmingham or Huntsville).  A representative from the Council will process and deliver the paperwork to the state licensing office.

If you’re a member of another council in Alabama, contact your council office for more information on how to complete this process.

If 1,000 commitments are not received by November 30th, your $50 payment will be refunded.
