Hawk Day is this Saturday, February 2nd, at Camp Tranquility. Work starts at 8am and ends around 4pm.
Specifically, we need folks to bring the following tools if they have them:
- Chainsaws (adults only)
- Pruning Shears
- Leaf Blowers (gas powered)
- 4-Wheel Drive Vehicles
You’ll need to bring your own lunch, your own water, and a pair of work gloves. This is a primitive camp with very little in the way of basic amenities (ie, no electricity or running water), so Be Prepared.
Camp Tranquility is located inside Oak Mountain State Park, near Pelham, AL. Tell the gate attendant that you’re there to work with the BSA service crew and they should waive your park fee.
Click here to get directions to the main part of Camp Tranquility. This uses the “walking directions” data for time estimates, but the path and mileage estimates are accurate. We have submitted an update to Google and they have accepted it, but the update has not yet been released. You’ll be able to get your own driving directions to Camp Tranquility much more easily in the near future.
Please send questions to Mr. Larry Faulkner (email@example.com).
