The first Ordeal of 2013 is this weekend!

by Chris Brightwell on May 14, 2013

The first Ordeal of the year is THIS WEEKEND at Comer Scout Reservation! Click here for driving directions via Google Maps. Registration opens at 5pm, and things wrap up at 10am on Sunday. The Ordeal starts promptly at 8pm on Friday. If you can’t make that cutoff , let us know and we’ll try to work with you on a late arrival.

The nights this weekend will be a bit cool (in the mid-50s) and we’re looking at scattered thunderstorms throughout the weekend. Pack accordingly.

Here’s a quick note from our Vice-Chief of Inductions, Will Tidwell:

Hey guys, we’re looking forward to seeing you this weekend! We have worked for the last six months to completely overhaul how we run an Ordeal and we’re excited to see how well everything will work out. To make it all run smoothly, we need as many members to help as possible. We need elangomats, service corps members, help in the kitchen, and general help all throughout camp. Please come this weekend and stop by the Service Corps tent to find a place to help us out.

Ordeal Candidates:

  • If you were elected to the Order of the Arrow but have not yet received your sash, you’re an Ordeal Candidate.  Please, take a minute to review our “Instructions for Your Ordeal” info page.  When you get home on Sunday, check out our “After Your Ordeal” page, too!
  • If you haven’t registered, it’s not too late! You can pre-register online (use this form) until 5pm on Thursday. After that, you’ll have to pay and register on-site.
  • All candidates should check-in at the Training Center as soon as the arrive.
  • The Ordeal begins promptly at 8 PM Friday evening. Registration is open from 6 PM till 10 PM.

Brotherhood Candidates:

  • If you have been an Ordeal member for ten months, it’s time to seal your membership in the Order by attaining Brotherhood!
  • You can find all of the information you need in our Brotherhood Study Guide (click here for password info) or at the OA JumpStart website.
  • If you’re interested in attaining Brotherhood, talk to the registration staff when you check-in at the Dining Hall.  They’ll get you squared away.

Campsite Assignments:

  • Ordeal Candidates will be directed to a specific campsite to setup their tents.
  • Existing members should plan to camp with their Chapters in their assigned campsites. These assignments will be posted at registration.

To make sure you get the latest info as it’s available, find us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, or subscribe to our email updates.

Each pre-registered candidate should be getting a special “Before Your Ordeal” in a special email distribution, but you can check it out here:
