An amazing Jamboree and Coosa Lodge was there!

This month, the BSA held it’s quarter-annual National Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve out in West Virginia, the new permanent home for the Jamboree and more high-adventure. With over 40,000 Scouts and Venturers in attendance, it was a blast! The “Inaugural Jamboree” saw participants and staff alike get to take part in activities such as climbing & rapelling, zip lining, and white-water rafting along with experience the OA Indian Village, view amazing arena shows, and who could forget – patch trading.

With a total of three troops and one crew, dozens of Arrowmen from our lodge accompanied by plenty of staff were able to experience Jambo. This time around, Coosa Lodge wanted to be in on all of the exciting action going on at the Summit and formed a media team consisting of Lodge Chief Patrick Yim along with members Colin Giles, Kyle Dotson, and Dylan Clark, which posted on Coosa Lodge LIVE throughout the event. From participating in world records to meeting up with the Chief Scout Executive, the team had it covered.

Overall, the Summit was a great experience for all who were involved. Now with the 2013 Jamboree in the books, all eyes look forward to the next big event: the 2015 NOAC, which will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow. With the summer drawing to a close, we gear up with for another fall full of fellowship and cheerful service and hope to see everyone at the next event!
