As our crews gear up to depart from the comforts of home and trek toward the 2013 National Scout Jamboree at Summit Bechtel Reserve near Mt. Hope, WV, we decided to try something new.

We’ve learned from experience that our members love to see real-time pictures and updates from various events, especially when they couldn’t be there themselves, so we’ve put together a social media team to bring this year’s Jamboree to everyone who couldn’t make the trip. And we’re doing it through social media.

We’ve put together a team of youth, led by our Lodge Chief, Patrick Yim, to document the Jamboree through their eyes with text updates, pictures, videos, and anything else they can find. He’ll be working with two youth members of Coosa Lodge (Colin and Dylan) to bring you as many updates as possible for the duration of the event.

We’ve created a new Twitter account just for this effort: @CoosaLodgeLIVE.

We’ve given these guys the green light to “blow it up”, meaning they’re free to post as early and as often as possible. Every day or so, our team back home in Alabama will pull the best of those updates and post them to the Facebook pages for  Coosa Lodge (http://facebook.com/coosalodge) and Greater Alabama Council (http://facebook.com/greateralabamacouncil).

If this works well, we hope to use this account for future events, including NOAC, Conclave, NLS, and more! Who knows? Maybe you could join our social media team at an upcoming event!
