It’s that time again, folks. We’re just a few days away from our induction weekend at Camp Sequoyah! If you don’t know how to get to Camp Sequoyah, click here for driving directions via Google Maps. If you’re using a GPS navigator to get you there, you may need these coordinates: 33.5289, -85.6725
First, two important items of business:
- If you are interested in running for lodge office at Fall Fellowship, lodge officer nomination forms are due this weekend. You may turn them in to the Lodge Chief, Lodge Adviser, or Lodge Staff Adviser. Click here to download the Lodge Officer Nomination Form.
- You need to bring your own tent! There will be plenty of shower facilities throughout camp, but you need to bring your own shelter. Registration will assign campsites during check-in based on which Chapter you’re in.
- Camp Sequoyah operates under a limited vehicle access policy. Plan to park in the main parking lot and hike your gear to your campsite. Trailers may also be available to help shuttle your gear from the parking lot to your campsite and back.
Registration opens at 5pm for current members and 6pm for Ordeal candidates. All Ordeal candidates need to check in by 8:30pm. If you are arriving late due to band or football, we need to know ASAP. Please contact Mr. Ed O’Neal (email@example.com) or Mr. Joey Kiker (firstname.lastname@example.org) to coordinate your late arrival.
Ordeal Candidates, you should get an email from us soon (tonight, if all goes well) with instructions for your Ordeal. If you do not receive that email, please let us know. In the meantime, you can also find all of that information here: Information for Ordeal Candidates.
If you’ve been an Ordeal members for 10 months or longer, it’s time to seal your membership by attaining Brotherhood. Be sure to check out our Brotherhood guide on Coosa50.org (the password is the admonition, all lowercase) and visit OA JumpStart, then tell the registration staff that you’d like to be a Brotherhood Candidate.
If you’re already a Brotherhood member, there’s still plenty of work to do in camp! Bring your work gloves, some sturdy boots, and a cheerful spirit. We’ll put you to work!
The weather for this weekend is looking pretty great, with highs in the mid- to upper-80s and lows in the mid-60s, plus virtually no chance of rain (for now!). You might want a light jacket in the evenings, so pack accordingly.
This is shaping up to be a great weekend and we’re looking forward to meeting all of our new Brothers. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or send us an email. We’ll do our best to answer as quickly as possible.
See you at camp!
