A Carnival in review and looking forward to the next year with Coosa!

by Dylan Clark on October 7, 2013

This past weekend, Coosa Lodge enjoyed it’s 15th annual Fall Fellowship — Coosapalooza — at Camp Comer. With over 200 in attendance, the event was a huge hit! From having the Southern Region Chief Brad Torpey come and take part in the fellowship with our Arrowmen to recognizing 16 new Vigil Honor recipients, the 2013 Fall Fellowship was jam-packed with plenty of Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service!

First things first, we elected a new slate of officers to lead Coosa for the 2013-14 term, so get to know them:

  • Lodge Chief, John Mayhall
  • Vice-Chief of Service, Tyler Belk
  • Vice-Chief of Administration, Patrick Yim
  • Vice-Chief of Fellowship, Colin Giles
  • Vice-Chief of Inductions, Noah Reed
  • Vice-Chief of Native American Affairs, Sam Hardy
  • Immediate Past Lodge Chief, Patrick Yim
  • Lodge Adviser, Mr. Ed O’Neal
  • Lodge Staff Adviser, Mr. Joey Kiker

We inducted 6 new Brotherhood members along with 16 new Vigil Honor members. The new Vigil Honor members are: Dylan Clark, Adam Davis, Forrest Evans, Trey Houston, Luke Lockwood, Adam Moore, Hunter Morgan, Thomas Willingham, Dr. Dan Belk, Mrs. Deborah Huff, Mr. Ed Poniatowski, Mr. Roger Pope, Mr. Clay Pruitt, Mrs. Theresa Read, Mr. Jon Ryan, and Mr. Melvin Walker.

Throughout the weekend, Scouts and Scouters were able to participate in all sorts of training  and carnival games  including inflatables, meet Arrowmen from around the lodge, trade and buy patches, enjoy cotton candy and popcorn, and witness an awesome closing show put on by Coosa Shows where among other things –  members won 2014 Event Passes, awards were given to those who served in the kitchen and Trading Post over 2013, and all the chiefs of Coosa Lodge from 2000 to now were recognized with honorary Coosa Chief sashes.

In addition, $984 was raised from the annual patch auction (Patch-a-Palooza this time) and donated to the GAC campership fund. If you weren’t there, you missed out on a great event, but we hope to see you at the next one! With Fall Fellowship in the books, we look forward to the next Ordeal, Hawk Day, and LLDR (invite only) all in November. Keep an eye out for more information and on the calendar to see what all we’ll be doing in 2014 for another exciting year in the Order of the Arrow!
