Hawk Day is this weekend at Camp Jack Wright

by Chris Brightwell on April 8, 2015

Hawk Day is this Saturday at Camp Jack Wright from 8am to 4pm.

Lunch will be provided by the lodge. You’ll need to bring a water bottle and some sturdy work gloves.  The Camp Jack Wright Committee has also asked that folks bring shovels, rakes, chainsaws, wheelbarrows, and lawnmowers if they can.

The day’s major task will be to establish a new campsite to honor the memory and legacy of Mr. Julian Simmons. Julian was an institution in our lodge and was a dedicated champion of Camp Jack Wright. He served on the Camp Jack Wright Committee and spent countless hours promoting and improving the camp.

If you don’t know where to find Camp Jack Wright, here’s a map to camp via Google Maps.  Just go in the front gate at Tannehill State Park and tell the attendant that you’re there for the Boy Scout workday.  They should let you through without paying the park fee.

Arrowmen who attend and work for 8 hours will get an opportunity to buy a Coosa Lodge service flap.

If you have questions, please contact Mr. Don Russell (d_russell@bellsouth.net).
