by Chris Brightwell on February 10, 2016

When we learned at the winter  banquet that Joey Kiker would be stepping down as Staff Adviser within a few days, the first question that many had was, “Who will be our new staff adviser?” At the time, no one knew. Now we know.

Daniel Giles has been promoted as the new Director of Marketing and Activities, part of which will be to serve as the Staff Adviser to Coosa Lodge. Daniel is an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor recipient, and Founders Award recipient from Alibamu Lodge, where he also served as Lodge Chief.

Daniel has served on staff at NLS twice and NOAC twice. He has been a volunteer in Scouting since his 18th birthday, serving in numerous pack, troop, and district positions. He has also attended every National Jamborees from 1981 to 2010 at Ft AP Hill. From 1993 to 2010, he served as a Jamboree Photographer. He contributed his photography skills to the 1998 and 2010 Boy Scout Handbook projects.

Daniel is married to Bethany, with whom he will celebrate his 20th anniversary this year, and has two children, Colin (17) and Kate (13).

Congratulations, Daniel, and a good luck!
