American Indian Seminar

Each year since 2006, Coosa Lodge has hosted an American Indian Seminar. This event is organized and hosted by the Lodge, but any Arrowman interested in American Indian traditions is invited to attend. Each year, we have guests from several neighboring states visit for training and fellowship.

This event replaced our annual Spring Fellowship with a more program-oriented event, but it didn’t take all the fun out of it in the process. Most of Saturday is spent in training and instruction, but we do our best to offer a wide variety of classes.

Class sessions typically include introductory classes to the various dance styles, “make and take” classes, regalia-building classes, training on various beadwork techniques, training on judging dance and ceremony competitions, and more! If you’re interested in teaching or learning about a specific topic, please contact the Vice-Chief of Native American Affairs.

Saturday night culminates in a pow-wow on the parade field (where everyone is invited to participate) and an exciting closing arena show by none other than Coosa Shows.

The 2010 American Indian Seminar will be held at Comer Scout Reservation near Mentone, AL. If you bought a Coosa Lodge Event Pass, this event is included in that. Otherwise, the pre-registration form can be found on the Forms page.

If your lodge is interested in bringing a guest contingent, please find and use the Guest Lodge Pre-Registration Form on the Forms page. If you’re interested in coming as a guest, but not as part of a guest contingent, please contact the Lodge Chief, Lodge Adviser, or Staff Adviser.
