Brothers,

This weekend was a great success! Many thanks to Stephen Hayes and Mr. Don Russell and all who were involved in planning this successful event. It was a great way to conclude our 8th year as a lodge. Congratulations to the 2008 officers for a great year. Now it is time to get ready for an awesome 2009! Congratulations to all of our new lodge officers:

  • Will Jackson, Lodge Chief
  • Kyle McInnis, Vice Chief of Service
  • John Bishop, Vice Chief of Administration
  • Joseph Rush, Vice Chief of Communications
  • Patrick Hayes, Vice Chief of Fellowship
  • Kyle Dotson, Vice Chief of Inductions
  • Stephen Hayes, Vice Chief of Native American Affairs
  • Will Cole, Vice Chief of the North
  • Davis Faulkner, Vice Chief of the South

Col. Kent Jackson also began his tenure as our Lodge Adviser during the event. The Lodge benefited greatly from the leadership and direction of Mr. Greg Moore but will also be looking forward to the experienced advisership of Colonel Jackson!

Congratulations to all new chapter officers! This year much of our lodge activities will be centered around our 14 chapters. We have an exciting new year ahead of us so jump on board and get strapped in! If you are interested in serving as a lodge committee chairman, please contact Will Jackson ASAP.

If you have not yet signed up to attend Conclave or National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC), be sure to do so soon. Forms are available in the forms section of the website. Follow the instructions on each about where to mail them. We have a limited amount of time to submit our number of participants to national and the section. If you have not yet signed up to help with Conclave by serving on staff, be sure to contact me or Mr. Greg Moore at conclave@coosa50.org.

Don’t forget about the work day at Camp Comer on Saturday, October 4! We will be putting together more tent platforms for Conclave and summer camp. Lunch will be provided by the lodge in conjunction with the Cub-Haunted staff work day.

If your chapter does not have a webmaster and you are interested, please contact your chapter chief and the Coosa Web Team.

GET READY FOR A GREAT NEW YEAR IN COOSA!

Conclave to the 9th Power!

Published by Will Jackson at 3:07 pm

This is the beginning of the ninth year of Coosa Lodge. On April 17-19, around 900 Arrowmen from nine lodges in Alabama and Georgia will converge on Camp Comer for the inaugural SR-9 Conclave. Conclave - literally translated as a secret meeting - is a time where brothers from around our section come fellowship, compete, and get informed about OA programs in and around our section.

This year, the Coosa Lodge will serve as service lodge. This means that the lodge will need your help in providing the logistical support for Conclave. Our Conclave Responsibilities have been divided into three function groups with several committees each. Administration handles registration, the Trading Post (on-site and pre-order), participant guide books, our printed conclave proposal to the section, and Conclave awards . Host services will provide guides for each lodge throughout the weekend, provide transportation to and from the A-frames, manage parking, put on the Vigil Rededication, provide a medical team, run a 24-hour food service, and serve as hospitality central for all of our guest lodges. Logistics will be responsible for all artwork, flag ceremonies, all pre-weekend set-up and improvements (such as work weekends), and provide facilities maintenance and support during the event. To sign up for a committee or receive more information about a function group, e-mail conclave@coosa50.org. Many committees will have a wide variety of service opportunities that will allow you to be involved in multiple committees. Remember the lodge will need everyone’s help to pull off a successful Conclave!

We will also have three work weekends at Camp Comer to prepare for Conclave on March 28, April 4, and April 11.

For more information, check the website in the next few weeks. If you have any questions regarding Conclave, contact Conclave Chairman Will Jackson or Conclave Adviser Mr. Greg Moore at conclave@coosa50.org

Coosa Lodge has been asked to spend some time this weekend building new platforms for the upgraded tents that will be used at Camp Comer next summer.  We have a workday scheduled next Saturday (Oct. 4th) to build these, but we’re getting an early start on them and will use next weekend to finish the task.

Specifically, we need adults who can bring and/or use power drills to quickly assemble these platforms.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Greg Moore.

The Membership Committee has lost track of a Dell laptop, owned by the Lodge and used for registration at lodge events.  If you have it, or know who does, please email me as soon as possible!

We need to have the laptop for registration and to update the software for the 2008-2009 lodge program.

Thanks, and please help us spread the word!
