Camp Scholarships

The Coosa Lodge is dedicated to improving the camping experience of youth in the Greater Alabama Council. As part of this vision, the lodge makes a substantial financial contribution to the council campership program each year. Camperships are designed to allow scouts with the Greater Alabama Council to attend an in-council summer camp by providing them with financial assistance. Camperships do not cover the full cost of camp; in accordance with Scouting traditions and principals, the Greater Alabama Council recommends that each scout learn money-management skills by participate in council and/or unit fundraisers to take an active participation in their scouting expenses.

At the annual Fall Fellowship and Pow-Wow, the lodge holds both a silent and a live patch auction. Anyone may donate patches. The proceeds of this auction go directly to the lodge’s campership contribution. At the 2008 Fall-Fellowship Live Patch Auction, the Coosa Lodge raised enough money to pay for twenty-two campership scholarships! Thank you to everyone who donated patches and bid on the items!
